Tour Guide Ukraine: About Me

Tour Guide Ukraine: About Me

Welcome to Tour Guide Ukraine, my travel blog! My name is Olena Goncharuk, and I am a qualified English-speaking tourist guide and tour leader based in Kyiv, Ukraine. I have been working in the tourism industry for 20 years, providing services to both individuals and tourist groups.

Tour guiding isn’t just a job for me; it’s my passion. My mission is to share stories about history, culture, art, architecture, and food, as well as insights into modern life. In essence, tourist guides serve as cultural ambassadors, sharing their knowledge and travel experiences. Exploring new destinations offers different perspectives, and through mutual communication, we can better understand the world, life, countries, and ourselves. Travel brings us joy, fosters connections and relationships, breaks down national stereotypes, and leads to new friendships and discoveries.

My experience and education

After completing a Master of Arts in History degree in 2002, I began working as a travel manager for incoming travel operators while also pursuing courses in tour guiding. Subsequently, I started offering guiding services to international travelers in Kyiv and Ukraine. Later on, I obtained a Master’s Degree in Psychology, believing that the combination of history and psychology is essential for the job of tour guide and understanding the world. History tells what happened and psychology gives the answer on why it happened in such a way.

I am an active member of two public organizations: the Ukrainian Tourist Guides Association and the League of Kyiv‘s Guides. In our work, we adhere to the principles of the European Federation of Tourist Guides Associations (FEG) and the World Federation of Tourist Guides Associations (WFTGA). Additionally, I continuously enhance my knowledge by participating in Ukrainian and international training programs.

Having gained experience in tour guiding, I decided to start a travel blog. I realized my passion for sharing knowledge with a wider audience. Through this blog, I aim to provide practical and useful travel information about Ukraine, enabling others to enjoy their journeys.

Cooperation

I am interested in cooperation with individuals and companies in the tourism industry who are committed to responsible and sustainable travel. The main focus of this travel blog is to offer valuable and informative content about travel destinations and objects in Ukraine. Please note that I do not cover video games, nightclubs, dating services or casinos, and I do not collaborate with businesses involved in these industries.
